Cloud County Community College
With two campuses in Concordia and Junction City, Kansas, Cloud County Community College is a two-year public community college established in 1965, and one of nineteen community colleges in the state. It is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Cloud County Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
There is a wide range of courses for transfer and career degrees offered at Cloud County Community College. Areas of study include Agri-Biotechnology, Business, Childcare, Communications, Engineering, Equine Management, Graphic Design, Pre-Professional Health, Nursing, Social Sciences, Technical Studies, and many more.
Cloud County Community College also offers online classes for students who are not able to attend classes on campus. Courses offered include Criminal Procedures, Art Appreciation, Marketing, Business Accounting, Public Speaking, Basic Media Writing, College Algebra, Music Appreciation, Personal Wellness, General Psychology, Human Growth and Development, and many others.
The Student Success Center exists to support students in their academic goals and to maximize their educational experience at Cloud County Community College. There are various services and resources offered at the Student Success Center to serve a wide range of student needs. Free tutoring services are provided to students, with the peer tutoring program for various courses. The tutoring program seeks to reinforce classroom learning and develop other study skills.
A Supplemental Instruction program is also offered. This program utilizes group study sessions for brainstoriming, discussing course readings, comparing notes, and studying for examinations. Supplemental Instruction is available for courses in Elementary Algebra, Intermediate English, and Intermediate Algebra.
In addition, the Student Success Center also organizes Student Success Workshops, ESL Services, Study Strategy Assistance, resources for time management, computers, reference materials, and other services and assistance.
Campus housing is provided for students, and a variety of living styles, arrangements, and socialization and leadership opportunities are available. Apartment-style housing options are available, and feature convenient and modern amenities and facilities. The T-Bird Cafe is the primary dining facility on campus, featuring an assortment of meals and food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
For relaxation and recreation, students of Cloud County Community College head to Thunderville at the Student Union. At Thunderville, students can hang out, watch television, or play games such as air hockey, pool, foosball, ping-pong, shuffle board, etc. Wii games area also available, as well as checkers and chess tables.
If you need a caffeine fix or just a quiet place to talk to friends or study, the Hava Java Coffee Shop is the place to go for hot drinks and snack items. Beverage selections include European blend coffee, cappucino, mocha, latte, chai tea, and more. Snack favorites include biscotti and Otis Spunkmeyer muffins.
Health and fitness buffs can make use of the Fitness Center. This facility has state-of-the-art equipment and amenities, including elliptical trainers, treadmill machines, bench press stations, squat cages, free weights, bike machines, and an upper level 160-meter running track. Weight training classes and other fitness activities are organized throughout the year, as well as a fun run and fitness challenge event.
